Empowering Women with Dr. Julie Hanks: The Dude Therapist

I recently had the opportunity to talk with Eli Weinstein, LMSW, host of The Dude Therapist podcast , about women empowerment, aspirational motherhood, and working through feelings of guilt and shame as a parent. We also talk about how religious beliefs shape our ideals, values, and beliefs about who we are as parents.

In the podcast, we also touch on mental health during the newborn stage and how society has high expectations for parents to have everything figured out in the first two weeks. We talk about how parenthood is a relationship, not a role, and is about connection over checklists.

Listen to the conversation above! If you want to learn more about how society sets up unrealistic expectations for mothers, watch The Costs of Idealizing Motherhood | Julie de Azevedo-Hanks | TEDxOgden
