How to Find the Best Therapist for You: Good Things Utah

I met with the team at Good Things Utah and shared my tips on how to find the best therapist for you. It’s so important to find a therapist who you match with and feel that you can trust. It will make all the difference in your journey! Here is what I recommend:

  1. Ask for recommendations. Many of your friends and family have probably been to therapy, and they’ve got good recommendations! People who love their therapists are usually happy to talk about them and recommend them.
You can also ask medical providers. Professionals are connected, and they’ll likely have great recommendations as well.

2. Research. Do your research to find a therapist, and once you’ve found a name, do even more research. Go to their website and social media accounts. Read their blog posts and articles. Research their credentials and make sure they have the tools to help with what you need. Call their office and ask if the therapist might be a good fit for you.

3. Reach out. Finding a therapist you match with is a lot like making friends or dating: Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right. Don’t be afraid to reach out to multiple therapists and keep trying new ones if you haven’t found a good fit.

4. Trust your gut. Trust your feelings about whether a therapist is the right fit for you. Having good rapport is a good indicator that a therapist is a good fit for you.
